Spice and Wolf - 01 RAW (1920x1080 H.264 AAC)

Hey again. I'm back with more RAWs as it has been a while.

This time it is 'Spice and Wolf - 01 RAW (1920x1080 H.264 AAC)'. This is the highest quality RAW there is for this great anime.

It may be an upscale, but damn it looks good.

Check out the comparison with the [TV-Japan] RAW below.

This is the [TV-Japan] 1440x1080 RAW.

This is my 1920x1080 RAW.

(Corrected to the right pic)

My thanks go to 'PS3專用動畫IDf6v22XCO' for putting this on 'Share'.

If you like this, leave me a comment and I might put up the 2nd and the 3rd.

Torrent: Here

Subtitles: Here

I have created this muxer so that my RAW can be turned into a subtitled file with little effort from you guys. The subtitles are from BBS (sorry and thanks), I have retimed them to the RAW, and should be close to perfect.

All you need to do is download the .zip, extract it somewhere and then place the RAW into the folder with all the files. Once thats done, just run the 'Run Me' batch file and it will make the MKV for you.

Wow, amazing. I've been comparing the different versions too and it just so happens that I've been using THAT EXACT SAME FRAME of Horo. All the raws for Ep.1 were pretty bad. Sudo's subs would have been nice but oh well. Do put up the other ones though, great job!

Hi. Good quality! I think I download it. But you use a wrong aspect for TV-Japan release.
The right ones: 1st and 2nd images.
And your first image link to your release is copy tv-japan image link %)

Tell me. Will you release other existing and future release from that Share ID in this quality?

grey fox, they are indeed in the wrong aspect. Not my fault though as I took images of the RAWs with no modification and 1440x1080 is a PAR4:3 aspect.

Which in itself is wrong. I will 'borrow' your pics but everyone that has downloaded should have realised the difference.

Yes! I recognize that this is your release better.
About 1440x1080 - this format of capture and TV broadcasts. MKV container are correct aspect, and while decoding it resize to 1920x1080 =)

And what about other episodes from this Share ID and quality? Will you release missing and future series?

I will definatly release episode 2 tonight and 3 should be tomorrow.

Then as long as they are put up on Share at the same time, 4 (which looks to be good) should be out in a week.

Good! I'll be waiting all episodes from you =)

Because this versions was captured from diffirent TV channels.

It doesn't matter if it is an upscale, that doesn't make it bad.

If you think Upscale = Bad then You = Fail.

On my TV, a good upscale normally looks better than the original size RAW.

On PC monitors they normally look worse though.

In looking at the images, your corrected version has much better color saturation, but you're starting to get "halo" around the edges.

That's usually a sign of too much sharpening filter. Maybe cut it back a few points?

What are you using to re-encode these raws, (Vdub mod?) and what filters/settings are you using?

3x3cut10n3r said...

Hmm, not seeing that myself. Unless you are talking about the Kanji, which does have some blurring on the edges.

Not anything to do with me though, just the way they are capped. There is no re-encoding done, 'PS3專用動畫IDf6v22XCO' capps them directly and puts them on Share. I take them from there and put them here.

More specifically, look at the black lines at the border of Horo's hair in the original capture, and then in the capture from your 1080p version. I can see white next to the black outlines, which is usually a sign of too much unsharp mask.
